Dr. Shima Rostami leads lecture and fundraiser on the problem of human trafficking in Missouri

On September 24, 2019, more than 100 community members from diverse backgrounds came together at Whitmoore Country Club in St. Charles to support the mission of Gateway Human Trafficking (GHT), a nonprofit 501 c 3 committed to educating our community and inspiring positive systemic change to end human trafficking.

Dr. Shima Rostami E.D.d, Executive Director of GHT opened the program by explaining how the Greater St. Louis Area especially our school-aged children have been affected by this criminal activity, human trafficking. We also heard from our legislators who updated our community about their recent accomplishments in establishing adequate laws to combat human trafficking more effectively.

Additionally, one of the school representatives shared with us the experience of having a child trafficking case in their school where a 6th grader was recruiting high school students for traffickers in exchange for $20.Since 2014, GHT has collaborated with local and federal law enforcement agencies, Public Health Specialists, school districts, and other nonprofit organizations to help stop human trafficking. In its mission to educate and inspire positive systemic change to end human trafficking, GHT has already reached over 40,000 community members in the Greater St. Louis area.
